Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026 · Applies to the HomeHub mobile app, web app and hub software.

The short version: HomeHub is local-first. Your home's state — devices, scenes, schedules, energy history, presence — lives on your own hub, in your home. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and we never sell data.

What the app stores, and where

Location (optional geofencing)

If you enable presence automation, the app uses your device's geofencing service to detect when you arrive at or leave your home. What leaves your phone is a single enter/leave signal sent to your own hub — never your coordinates, never a location history, and never to any third party. Location use is off by default, requires your explicit opt-in through the operating system's permission prompt, and can be revoked at any time in system settings. The signal is authenticated by a per-person token you can rotate or revoke in the app.

Notifications (optional)

If you enable push notifications, a device push token is registered with the platform's push service (Google or Apple) so your hub can alert you (for example, "everyone left but the AC is on"). Notification content is generated by your hub. You can disable notifications at any time in system settings.

Remote access (optional relay)

If you enable the optional relay, the app connects to it using HTTPS and the relay forwards requests to your hub. The relay is a trusted proxy, not end-to-end encryption: its operator can technically see request headers and response bodies while forwarding them. HomeHub does not retain that traffic by default. Use only a relay you trust; use Tailscale or another private VPN when you do not want an intermediary to see hub traffic. Without either option, the app talks to your hub only over your local network.

Voice assistant (optional)

If you connect the natural-language assistant to a third-party language-model provider, the text of your typed commands is sent to that provider to be interpreted. This is configured on your hub by you, is off by default, and falls back to fully local parsing.

What we do not do

Data retention and deletion

Settings → Account → Delete my account permanently removes your local hub account and revokes its token. The last administrator must first create or promote another administrator so the home cannot be left without an owner. Rooms, devices and shared automations belong to the hub rather than one account and are not removed with that account. Remove those items in Settings or factory-reset the hub to erase the entire home. See the account deletion guide. Uninstalling the mobile app removes its local application data; you can also remove a saved hub from the connection screen.

Children

HomeHub is a home-control utility, is not directed at children, and collects no personal information from anyone — child or adult — beyond what is described above.
